ISWA Knowledge Base

ISWA – the International Solid Waste Association – is a global, independent and non-profit making association, working in the public interest to promote and develop sustainable and professional waste management worldwide. The ISWA Knowledge Base provides up to date information on all aspects of waste management from multiple sources. It is a one stop shop searchable database for reports, training materials, web resources, papers, books, videos, and presentations from conferences and workshops.


Training Resources Pack (TRP+)

The TRP+ is a resource package for comprehensive training programmes on hazardous waste.  The TRP contains structured package of notes, technical summaries, visual aids and other training material concerning the (hazardous) waste cycle from generation to disposal.



The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES)

The Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES), established under an initiative of the Japanese government in 1998, is an international research institute conducting practical and innovative research for realizing sustainable development in the Asia-Pacific region. It works on various crosscutting thematic areas- such as formulation of low-carbon society, climate change adaptation, 3R initiatives and water environment governance, serving as the secretariat for various international initiatives and research networks.












Waste Concern

Waste Concern Group is a Social Business Enterprise (SBE) comprising both “For Profit” and “Not-for Profit” enterprises in the area of waste management. Its extended area of work include;  improvement of  environment by promoting waste recycling activities in the country, research and development, capacity building, and project implementation on projects related to waste management, recycling, clinical & hazardous waste management, waste water treatment, organic farming, renewable energy, climate change etc, and developing Public- Private and Community partnerships towards waste related business initiatives.



National Solid Waste Association of India

NSWAI is the leading professional non-profit organization in the field of Solid Waste Management in India. The association is a member of the International Solid Waste Association (ISWA), and provides forum for exchange of information and expertise in the field of Solid Waste Management at the national and international level.


Solid Waste Association of the Philippines (SWAPP)

The Solid Waste Management Association of the Philippines (SWAPP) is a non-profit membership organization composed of solid waste practitioners from Local Government Units, National Government Agencies, Non government organizations, and the Academe.




Waste Portal

Wasteportal is a platform that provides contextual information on waste management with an emphasis on Low and Middle Income countries through links to relevant sites, tools, events, discussions, related news and organizations.The portal is developed and jointly implemented between UNDP Public Private Partnerships Programme (UNDP PPPSD), WASTE, and the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Directorate General International Cooperation (DGIS).



International Partnership for Expanding Waste Management Services of Local Authorities (IPLA)- UNCRD

IPLA (Portal)

International Partnership for Expanding Waste Management Services of Local Authorities (IPLA), launched under the nineteenth session of the United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD-19) and registered with Rio+20, serves as a world-wide knowledge network and a dynamic platform to address various needs of local authorities (LAs) in achieving sustainable waste management, by promoting and facilitating collaboration among a wide range of partners such as cities, governments, private sector, academic and research institutions, NGOs and international organizations, among others. The overall objective of IPLA is to help LAs move towards resource efficient and zero waste societies, ultimately building sustainable and resilient cities.




Centre for Development Communication (CDC)

CDC involved in management of Solid Waste in Urban and Rural areas through scientifically designed & effective methodologies for last 16 years, headquartered at Jaipur and having pan-India presence, with on-going projects in more than 16 cities.

key operational areas are Waste Management in Urban and Rural areas, Urban and Rural Health, Professional Internship, Training & Research, Microfinance, Social Security of waste workers and street vendors.CDC offers a comprehensive service for solid waste management, emphasizing integrated approach for management of MSW from segregated waste collection at source, efficient and effective transportation and scientific disposal.




Annakshetra

Annakshetra is a unique initiative by Centre for Development Communication (CDC), Jaipur, formed with the aim of minimizing food wastage by effective channelization of the excess food leftover in weddings, parties, restaurants and temples. It is aimed at filling the gaps in existing society by delivering the spare food collected from donors to the needy people of local community. The program strives to implement sustainable food service,addresses the need to move towards Zero waste economy and works to ensure poverty eradication, food security and sustainable cities. The philosophy is to serve each grain of cooked food to satiate needy people.

The Annakshetra team is in the process of initiating legislation for food waste management in India. Besides, CDC is involved in extensive Research and Publications and regularly holds workshops, conferences and publishes reports and briefings on key waste management issues. Annakshetra’s advocacy programs are based on wide-ranging fieldwork with affected communities.
